Who was your first pet, and what did you learn from them?
My first pet was a Chihuahua. Her name was Tiny, and I don’t remember much about her. I was probably 3. Tiny barked a lot and loved to snuggle.
Do you have any pets of your own? If so, tell us about them!
I have a smart and energetic kitten who loves to be in my arms. His way of waking me up in the morning is to lie on my neck and sleep there until I get up to feed him. He’s so fun to watch as he sits in “his” window to watch the squirrels eat peanuts. He’s a very loved and cherished part of our family.
What type of pet is your favorite, and why?
My favorite animal is a cat. I like cats’ personalities; they are extremely independent yet so soft and loving. My favorite time of the day is when I’m snuggling my cat, and he purrs loudly, letting me know he’s content and all is well in his little world.
What do you enjoy most about being a pet sitter? Pet sitting is a special part of my day because these little fur babies are someone’s special family member, and I try to see the world through their eyes. They miss their pet parents and get stressed, so I make it my mission to ease the anxiety felt by both parents and pets.

How do you ensure the pets in your care feel comfortable and loved while their owners are away?
Giving care is my specialty. A little kindness and compassion go a long way in this world. I talk to the pets. I’m in no way Dr Doolittle, but I think in some way the pets know I care and have their best interest at heart.
What has surprised you most about pet sitting?
Not all pets want the same attention from the pet sitter as they want from their pet parents, and every pet has a distinct personality and preferences.
What sets Oh, Fur Pet’s Sake apart from other pet sitting services?
I haven’t been at this long enough, but the company’s owners, Lisa and Holly, are true believers in what they do and live their business philosophy by being hands-on. They themselves have many pets, and they put themselves in the shoes of their customers and employees. I can’t say enough great things about them and their company.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to pet parents considering a pet sitter?
As the owner of a pet, I would say to pet parents to give themselves peace of mind knowing their pet is being cared for by loving and caring pet sitters makes for a much more enjoyable time for the pet and owner, be it a vacation or working long hours your pet is our top priority. You get peace of mind knowing the pet isn’t scared of being alone, they are being fed and watered, and we play with them; if they are dogs, we walk them; if it’s cats, then the feather toy is a favorite, and we have fun too.
What would you tell someone considering a job as a pet sitter?
Pets need and deserve love and care; if that is your passion, then this is the job for you.
