Get to Know Oh, Fur Pet’s Sake’s Angela

At Oh, Fur Pet’s Sake, we’re not just passionate about pampering your furry friends – we’re also a bunch of animal enthusiasts ourselves! To help you get to know the faces behind the leashes, we’ve put together a fun questionnaire for our amazing team members to complete. So, without further ado, let’s dive into the personalities behind our pet sitting prowess!

Who was your first pet, and what did you learn from them?

My first pet was the family dog, Prissy. She was a cockapoo, and I think the first lesson she taught me was that animals have just as much rights to their own feelings about who they choose to be attached to. We can’t force friendships but have to allow them to thrive on their own.

Do you have any pets of your own? If so, tell us about them!

I currently have three cats, one ball python, an opinionated and judgemental Bearded Dragon rescue, a leopard gecko (foster who is looking permanent 🤣), and a crested gecko.

Charlie is a big ole boy short, hair domestic mix. He loves feet, full bowls of food, and fresh, fresh water. He also loves to sit and shed on you as much as possible.

Molly is a tabby DSH who is much too clever and never misses an opportunity to get into trouble. 😅 She loves playing fetch and hiding in any box she can find. She is also a very chatty lady.

Leo is a dog orangish boy who is definitely a foodie! As big as he is, he has the tiniest meow on the planet. He isn’t a fan of cuddles, but he will do frequent drive-bys for 20 seconds.

Poe, my ball python, is very smart and quite aware of everything going on around his environment. He is very mellow and loves his opportunities to explore.

Toby, the foster, is a handsome, chunky guy who likes his walkabouts and checking things out.

Echo is my rescue Bearded Dragon. He definitely has thoughts about you and your behaviors! He enjoys snuggling on your shoulder, and he likes his weekly soaks. He has a passion for strawberries and super worms. 😊

Lyric is my latest addition. He is a 14-month-old crested gecko who captivated my heart as soon as I saw him. We are still getting acquainted with one another, but so far, he is sweet and docile. He is very curious and always looking for ways to explore more.

What type of pet is your favorite, and why?

I love all of the pets. 😊 They are all so unique, and each one has a lesson to teach and offer so much enrichment for our lives. But, if forced to choose just one, I love parrots for their intelligence and beauty. I just can’t provide the ideal home for one right now. So, I would choose my ball python as my second favorite. I am absolutely crazy about him

What do you enjoy most about being a pet sitter?

I love being able to ensure that someone else’s cherished fur/scaled/feathered baby is cared for and loved while their pet parent is away. It is a privilege and an honor to be trusted with a valued member of their family. I also love being able to win the trust and friendship of each pet I am responsible for.

How do you ensure the pets in your care feel comfortable and loved while their owners are away?

I move at that particular pet’s comfort level. If it’s an outgoing, friendly animal, I meet them where they are at. If they are more shy and uncertain, I am happy to go as slow and hands-off as they need. I talk softly to all of the pets and I don’t get into their personal space until they invite me in.

What has surprised you most about pet sitting?

I think I have been most surprised at how welcoming pet parents have been. Since I tend to be more reserved and quiet, I have been pleasantly surprised by how quickly our clients have made me feel like part of their extended family.

What sets Oh, Fur Pet’s Sake apart from other pet sitting services?

I love the accountability that Oh, Fur Pet’s Sake provides and stands by. If there are ever any issues, we work hard to resolve them and ensure that pets and clients are given the absolute best service possible. In addition, as an employee, they make me feel like I matter and that I am not just a cog in the machine.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to pet parents considering a pet sitter?

Please check for reviews. These are your precious babies, and they deserve to be placed in the most competent and professional hands.

What would you tell someone considering a job as a pet sitter?

I would tell them it’s not a “job,” it’s a passion. Each animal needs to be cared for as if it is your own. In addition, we need to make sure that every client is treated the way we would want to be. This means going the extra mile or two and picking up the poo in the rain at two in the morning.
